About Our Free Image Converter
ToolDuniya's Image Converter is a free, browser-based tool that converts images between PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, and BMP formats instantly. Unlike cloud-based converters, all processing happens locally on your device using the HTML5 Canvas API — your images are never uploaded to any server, ensuring complete privacy.
Supported Image Formats
- PNG — lossless compression, supports transparency, ideal for graphics and screenshots
- JPG/JPEG — lossy compression, smaller file sizes, best for photographs
- WebP — modern format with superior compression, smaller than JPG/PNG at equivalent quality, supported by all modern browsers
- GIF — supports animation, limited to 256 colors, best for simple animations
- BMP — uncompressed bitmap format, large file sizes, used in legacy applications
When to Use Each Format
Choosing the right image format depends on your use case. For websites, WebP offers the best balance of quality and file size — it can reduce image sizes by 25-35% compared to JPG with no visible quality loss. Use PNG when you need transparency (logos, icons, overlays). JPG remains the standard for photographs where file size matters. GIF is only recommended for simple animations.
Quality Control
For JPG and WebP conversions, you can adjust the output quality from 1% to 100% using the quality slider. Lower quality means smaller file sizes but more compression artifacts. For most web use, 75-85% quality provides an excellent balance. PNG and BMP conversions are always lossless — no quality is lost regardless of settings.
Resize While Converting
Our converter includes optional resize functionality. Set a custom width and height, or enter just one dimension with "Keep ratio" enabled to automatically calculate the other. This is useful for creating web-optimized images, social media graphics, or thumbnails without needing a separate image editor.
Privacy and Security
Your images never leave your device. All conversion is performed locally in your browser using JavaScript and the Canvas API. We don't upload, store, or process your files on any server. This makes our tool safe for converting sensitive or private images.
